Interview with Drakon NFT- This Project is FIRE!

We interviewed the talented team at Drakon NFT. They told us about their plans to create a multi-series project consisting of Dragons, eggs, and later, knights. The team has already shown signs of delivering on their promises, displaying a range of 3D eggs in their Discord that will hatch into baby dragons.

All will then feature in a card game that will be developed in line with the highly creative lore that has been written.

*The team is donating 5% of sales to Rolda, a charity for Dogs.

  1. Please tell us about you, your name, position in the project, your credentials, etc., so that we can introduce you.

My name is DragonLord, and I am the writer and Chief Marketer for Drakon. I have a degree in creative writing and utilized what I learned to develop the lore for the website, which will be expanded upon in each series.

2. How would you describe your artistic style?

I would describe Soulfang as an abstract artist who likes to experiment with things digitally. He enjoys experimenting with shapes and utilizing them in clustered and chaotic ways. He especially likes dragons, and growing up, watching a lot of Dragon Ball Z inspired him to engage in a creative process involving dragons.

He used to draw Goku, and when given a chance to draw dragons or DRAKONS, he added some elements to the collection. He wanted to integrate infinity balls, color themes, and similar backgrounds for our Dragonball Z fans. Dragons are majestic creatures, and he wanted to create a collection of colorful dragons yet still retain a powerful core essence of dragons and hopes that he did justice to them.

3. What drew you to NFT creation rather than traditional canvas-based art?

Soulfang likes to create artworks in any medium he gets the chance to as it helps him widen his skillset as well as help him learn something new.

He believes every artist keeps learning and growing,

Much of the inspiration he had for dragons came from reading manga or animated movies.

So for this collection, the digital medium seemed right to capture the colors and quality of the NFTs to be clean and not pixelated.

Soulfang also has several pieces that are traditional canvas-based.

His traditional works are primarily abstract or concept-based, though, for illustrations, he usually prefers to do them digitally.

4. Are there any artists who have inspired you? What do you like about their work?

Soulfang's favorite artists or artists he is inspired by vary a lot. Every artist has their own style and rhythm to their work, so it inspires him whenever he finds an artist who has found their style. Some examples include:

Akira Toriyama creator of DBZ.

Jack Coulter, abstract artist.

David Mack- the illustrator who usually creates artworks for marvel.

Kohei Horikoshi, creator of my hero academia.

Lou Romano, Pixar artist.

Plus, about another 2000 artists that Soulfang follows on social media.

5. What made you create NFTs?

We love the concept of NFTs, and there's so much one can do with them. They can be collectible artworks as well as game assets. People even trade NFTs.

For Soulfang, being able to create a whole world of dragons and knights seems stimulating as well as invigorating.

People enjoy collecting artworks that represent a reflection of themselves. Dragons symbolize power and charisma—a bygone era of mythology.

We see it is as a significant opportunity to create a whole new community that has come together for the love of art and dragons: A community with similar interests and aestheticism.

6. Can you tell us about your project?

Drakon is a collection of 8888 dragons that are based on mythological folklore. There are eight separate dragons representing eight different Kingdoms. Four Kingdoms align with the forces of good, while the other four are aligned with the forces of darkness.

They are split into two opposing factions, the Greermore alliance containing the benevolent dragons and the Sourgrad Axis, composed of destructive forces.

Greermore Alliance:

➊ Ulgrard- A mighty fire-breathing dragon and the leader of the faction. Inhabits a moat in a castle on a hill in the Kingdom of Baressia.

➋ Trobeard- A dragon with a large wingspan capable of creating strong winds. Lives in the cavernous terrain of Modaniva

➌ Morganite- A jovial dragon intent only on creating prosperity for humankind. It has gorgeous shimmering scales and can fly at immense speed. Resides in the Kingdom of Dolineria

➍ Drakeford- The most intelligent of all the Dragons. Able to see into the future using a temporal window, but this comes at a significant cost to his health.

Sourgrad Axis:

➊ Grundy- The leader of the opposition. Grundy is sly and cunning and is able to trick victims into its lair in the Kingdom of Skewen by mimicking a voice of human distress. Grundy has poor eyesight but flies around using echolocation.

➋ Roiderion- An immensely powerful yet stupid Dragon that often slumbers in the Valleys of the Ronda. Easily manipulated by Grundy.

➌ Truedore- A dragon whose pleasant appearance is misleading as his motives are always destructive. Lives in a Swamp in the Kingdom of Talbort, the largest Kingdom yet one that is largely uninhabitable to most living things.

➍ Griff- Perpetually hungry, Griff hunts relentlessly for all manner of food and furiously attacks anything in its path. Needs to take an anger management class for dragons.

7. How many NFTs will be minted? Can you talk us through the process of how you create the art?

8888Drakon NFTs will be minted. Creating art is pretty simple; Soulfang took a pencil and paper and then just drew something.

I am just kidding!

It took him years of being locked inside a room, being an introvert, and just watching anime and reading manga.

And then he wanted to create those imaginary worlds and dragons to keep him company. Every project needs research, but this didn't take a lot of time as he has been drawing dragons since he was a kid, though he still had to refresh his memory regarding different depictions.

This was fun for Soulfang as he got to do what he enjoyed the most. He started the collection by first creating the bases of the different types of dragons, from muscular to sleek dragons.

Once he had what types and how many dragons he was creating, he tried to capture their essence by creating their elements: Earth, Fire, wind, and water, as well as otherworldly specters. Dragons have consistently been shown to be masters of the elements.

Once he had created the dragons, he worked on backgrounds and details, as he wanted to create a collection that represents posters and something that you can see on cards to connect with the card game we have planned in our roadmap.

Soulfang has added some design elements that he believes capture the essence of dragons and some that have a deeper meaning that captures the culture of different eras and heritage.

He has created about 1900+ png files in a monumental work of art that includes all the backgrounds and variations.

8. Will people be able to breed, stake, rent your NFT, or will it ever be in a game?

We will develop the series into eggs that will hatch for holders, as well as Knights and a fantastic card game. You will not want to miss out!

9. What benefits do you think the Internet Computer has over other L1 blockchains when it comes to creating NFTs?

Reverse gas fees and on-chain assets are absolute game-changers for the NFT industry.

10. What other art have you seen that excites you in the Internet Computer NFT ecosystem?

There are so many cool projects on the Internet Computer, but Poked Bots are on another level artistically. We are excitedly awaiting the next p2p gaming and hope Cronics can deliver on this. We also think Eimolad seems to have great potential.

11. What excites you most about your launch, and which date is your launch?

Our launch is on April 8th. We are so excited to see people proudly displaying their Dragons as profile pictures and seeing the culmination of months of work come together.

12. What advice would you give to anyone trying to enter into the world of NFTs?

Deliver on your promises. So many projects make promises about the 'metaverse' when all they want to do is flip some Jpegs to make a fast buck. This is disingenuous and hurts those who put our heart and soul into these projects.

13. Do you have further plans to work with ICP Squad in the future after this initial sale?

Definitely, the team has been accommodating, and we will continue working closely with them to promote our future releases.

14. Can you envisage a future where the most valuable NFT space is on the Internet Computer?

That seems like a tough ask given the value of some projects on Ethereum, especially. However, with all assets being stored on-chain and having the IC's functionality, we should see increased interest and value in the ecosystem as time goes by.

15. Why do you think NFTs have become so valuable in such a short space of time?

People love trading art. What was once limited to a small group of sophisticated upper-class types in galleries is now open to everyone- whether it's expensive or budget pieces.

16. Tell us about your team?

Artist- Soulfang

I am an abstract artist who is inspired by oriental art. I can create complex 2D and 3D images, and I am incredibly excited to bring this collection to the Internet Computer after an immense amount of work has gone into it. I am looking forward to delivering on our roadmap and Drakon becoming a household name amongst Internet Computer enthusiasts.

Coder- Druk

I have a master's in computer science and have been doing Java development for over ten years and IT for over 15 years. I got involved in the Internet Computer ecosystem early on and love the reverse gas & predictable cycles model. I am an 8-year gang member. I recently got into Motoko, and I love the experience. I am responsible for the technical aspects of the project.

Writer- DrakonLORD

I have experience in journalism, technical writing, and creative writing and have a degree in creative writing. I decided to research 'Dragons of the World', which has been added to our website to give an overview of dragons, then used this knowledge to inform my writing of the lore. We have an ambitious roadmap and are looking forward to bringing the first dragon-related collection to the Internet Computer.

17. What advantages do you believe you have over other competitors?

We don't see anyone in the Internet Computer space as competitors, only those on other blockchains, perhaps. However, we believe that the functionality offered by the IC will allow us to outperform other art that is not actually stored on-chain.

18. Do you have any partners? Please tell us about them

We have worked closely with the wonderful team at Dfinity Community, who have given us excellent backing from day one.

We have collaborated with the stupendous teams at ICPCS, ICPark, Team Bonsai, IC8 Spacestation at the time of writing and have a lot more planned in the final push before launch including Internet Humans, Dfinity Drop, Gigaverse Labs and Infinity Swap.

19. Tell us about the challenges you have faced while building your project?

The art has been constantly upgraded, and this has taken up an unbelievable amount of time and effort, but we know it will be worth it. It's a labor of love.

20. What are your short and long-term achievements and targets?

We have already created the first collection and have begun the creation of 3D eggs ready for the drop of baby dragons to holders. We have provided evidence of these in our Discord.

We want Drakon to be a household name within the Internet Computer space and continuously develop the product and value for holders.

21. Give us some details about your roadmap?

Goal
To maximize Drakon NFT holder Long term Value

How are we going to achieve this?

Artistically - By releasing TOP end art.

Financially - By giving exclusive rights to the future collection and the DRAGONS & KNIGHT card game.

Also, support the floor using treasury funds (30 % of the sale proceeds).

That's why our Road Map is simple & effective (To fulfill our goal)!

· Q1 2022 -Launch 8888 Drakon Collection

· Q2 2022 -Airdrop eggs, which will become baby dragons, to existing Drakon holders.

· Q3 2022 - Launch 8888 Knight collection. Drakon holders are whitelisted automatically.

· Q1 2023 - Dragons & Knight Card Game Launch.

22. Do you have any plans to expand into the Metaverse?

We believe this buzzword is chronically overused and ill-defined. Nevertheless, we will certainly add layers to the project- eggs, baby dragons, then knights, and finally, a card game. We will deliver on these promises and add tons of value for holders.
