We interviewed Michael, the project manager at Dope Sheep. Dope Sheep is a highly impressive-looking P2E Co-op game that will be the main focus throughout the project's roadmap.
1. Please tell us about you, your name, position in the project, your credentials, etc., so that we can introduce you.
I am Michael also known as Dope Sheep. I am the project manager and one of the two artists for the Nuclear Sheep. My main occupations have mostly been art-related, having amassed over ten years of experience in many art forms, from classical canvas-based art to digital design.
2. How would you describe your artistic style?
After researching other great NFT projects from ETH, Solana to Internet Computer, we saw an artistic pattern that we chose not to approach. Instead, we went with a texture-based style that breaks the contour lines and makes the artwork stand out. We used special brushes to ensure that the overall feel of the painting was different from all others.
3. What drew you to NFT creation rather than traditional canvas-based art?
Living in the twenty-first century we saw this as a natural evolution for our art. Even though you can’t compare the two, NFT creation stands out in the sense of the unlimited possibilities that a project can attain by being backed by a great community that helps it reach greater heights.
4. Are there any artists who have inspired you? What do you like about their work?
The artist that stood out the most and that I’ve considered a great inspiration is Salvador Dali. Even though his style is one of a kind and unmatched, the storytelling behind his artwork tends to inspire more than other artists of his time. I consider this ability of telling a story through art a great asset to the NFT world and this is why we did our best to incorporate it into our collection.
5. What made you create NFTs?
I feel that NFTs represent the art of the future, being an ideal combination between tech and art. With the possibilities being endless it offers you a virtual canvas like no other and also gives you the freedom to explore different ways of growing your project. In my eyes, NFTs are limitless ways to express yourself and build a community to reach new heights.
6. Can you tell us about your project?
1.Nuclear Sheep is a story that begins in a land called Baha. It follows ten clan leaders that make haste to uncharted territories to find new lands for their people to thrive in. After setting off, the clan heads start to see that the land they were hoping to find is nowhere to be seen; nothing but a barren wasteland sits under their hooves. They come across a gigantic structure (Nuclear Power Plant) that unfortunately explodes along their journey.
The collection is based on all the citizens of Baha and their clan heads who now have become mutated. To make the story more immersive and let the community explore it as time goes by, we started working on a P2E Co-op game that will be the main focus throughout our roadmap. Also, to ensure the continuous unfolding of the story, we are working on a second collection that will be airdropped to the first collection holders that feature the sheep in the aftermath of the nuclear explosion.
7. How many NFTs will be minted? Can you talk us through the process of how you create the art?
Our supply will be 7,777 NFTs. Initially we began with a couple of sketches to have the concept put into a better perspective. After deciding on our subject, we started choosing our color palette, brushes, and overall style. We went on to design assets that we saw fit our collection the best. Our eleven legendary NFTs have been custom-made to ensure that they stand out from the rest of the collection.
8. Will people be able to breed, stake, rent your NFT, or will it ever be in a game or be a DAO?
We don’t have plans regarding breeding and renting, but these might be features that you will be able to find in our game. Regarding staking: if we decide to tokenize our game, we might consider the option to stake your NFTs to earn tokens. But we will have to wait to see how things develop over time.
9. What benefits do you think the Internet Computer has over other L1 blockchains when it comes to creating NFTs?
The Internet Computer is based on extremely powerful tech. What excites me the most when it comes to NFTs versus other blockchains is the fact that everything is hosted directly on-chain without having to use cloud services like AWS. If I understood correctly, all NFTs deployed on Ethereum, Solana, etc., are hosted on AWS or similar services.
For a creator it is very important not to depend on corporate terms and conditions, since those terms and conditions can be changed without notice and may have a negative impact on development.
I think it’s essential that what we build is built on infrastructure that can be considered “public domain” because that’s what will empower creators to achieve maximum potential for their projects.
10. What other art have you seen that excites you in the Internet Computer NFT ecosystem?
The most exciting project to look at has to be Poked Bots. Their art looks impressive, it’s incredibly detailed, and after researching PokedStudio for a bit, their previous collaborations with large companies are like a testament to their success.
We are also fans of Pixel Art collections, since they have a nostalgic feeling about them. Internet Humans also caught our eye. We like the simplicity around it.
11. What excites you most about your launch and which date is your launch?
From the first moment we started the Nuclear Sheep project it has been a wonderful journey. Even though some time has passed, we see our launch as just the beginning of a long and fantastic road ahead for our project, and we are excited to have the chance of seeing our roadmap fulfilled. Our launch date is on April 11th on Entrepot.
12. What advice would you give to anyone trying to enter into the world of NFTs?
The best advice I could offer is to learn as much as you can about the world you are entering and try to be as innovative as possible. It is a world filled with wonder but also backed by a community who is not easily impressed. So you better have your A game.
13. Do you have further plans to work with ICP Squad in the future after this initial sale?
We most definitely have. We consider ICP Squad a powerful ally in the IC community with a well-structured and strong team at its helm that will boost the Internet Computer to new heights by bringing people together from around the world.
14. Can you envisage a future where the most valuable NFT space is on the Internet Computer?
Due to the immense potential of the Internet Computer, we consider that this vision will soon become a reality. Even though there have been projects that come and unfortunately go, we can see that those who are here for the long run have the wits to make the Internet Computer NFT space the most valuable there is. I think it is only a matter of time until we will be able to see this happen.
15. Why do you think NFTs have become so valuable in such a short space of time?
From the beginning of time, value has been given by the people. Art has a value that people provide, and the same goes for BTC. NFTs became so valuable in such a short amount of time because they are a new form of art that people can appreciate and relate to.
One more factor I would take into account would be tech. Twenty years ago, it would have been impossible to have such exposure in such a short amount of time.
16. Tell us about your team?
Our team is made up of four members:
Dope Sheep - Project Manager and artist
Miss Cottonhead - Artist and animator
The Shepherd - Marketing manager
Anonymous Sheep - Unity expert and game developer
We have known each other most of our lives and have always had great synergy. Each of our members has around 10+ experience in the domain they are most good at, together forging a tremendous and unified team.
17. What advantages do you believe you have over other competitors?
We pride ourselves on having a well-structured team that has a vast range of abilities. One of our strong suits is that our roadmap will be entirely completed in house from collections, animations to game development and so on. Thus far we managed to create an universe different from all others with stunning artwork that we think will be a great asset to the growth of the Internet Computer community.
18. Do you have any partners? Please tell us about them
At this time, our only partners are Entrepot. We will be launching on Entrepot Marketplace on April 11th. But we are most likely to announce some new partnerships after our launch.
19. Tell us about the challenges you have faced while building your project?
Being new to the NFT space, there were many things that we had to learn to build a community of our own and make our project get the traction it deserves. We were pleasantly surprised to see the tightness of the IC community.
20. What are your short and long-term achievements and targets?
After our initial sale we plan on continuing working on our P2E game backed by new stunning animations that will further complete the entirety of our story. In the long term we aim to make our game one of the most recognized games in the NFT space while hoping to cast a new positive light on the Internet Computer.
21. Give us some details about your roadmap?
Having fulfilled our roadmap till the present day, we aim to have an alpha version of our P2E game released in three months and release the second Nuclear Sheep collection that will be airdropped to the holders of the first collection. Our roadmap will also feature a wearables collection that will be available to drop in-game on the last dungeon level.
22. Do you have any plans to expand into the Metaverse?
These days the Metaverse is a term that everyone uses for marketing purposes, so we try to stay away from this word. We have our vision to build a game that will stand the test of time while trying to surpass its competitors and shed the positive light that the IC deserves.
If people consider that what we are doing will enter the sphere that they consider a Metaverse, then so be it.
23. Will your NFT be tokenized in the future?
At this point, we don’t have plans of tokenizing, but this can always be subject to change.
